To the Good People of OSTA
I don’t think we could’ve asked for a much better weekend to hold a shoot. We had a great turnout at Ross County and I believe everyone had a good time. I seen lots of new shooters. We had a total of 190 shooters for the weekend. Thanks to the folks at Ross County for having everything ready to. I would like to mention that we need to do a better job of keeping our trash off the course. I saw quite a few cups, wrappers, etc. on the course Sunday afternoon. Please shove that stuff in your quiver or pocket until you find a trash bag. We did not have a very good turnout for the meeting, maybe 25 or so folks. We didn’t have major issues to discuss but this is where information is passed along and discussed and members can play an active role in our club and its future. I like to have the meetings at 4:30 at all the shoots and this will be the case at Blackhoof as well. I believe I’ve been clear in the past and beat this horse enough but if you are shooting competition, MAKE SURE YOUR SCORECARD IS FILLED OUT CORRECTLY INCLUDING YOUR NAME, CLASS, AND THAT SCORES ARE TALLIED FOR EACH HALF OF THE COURSE AND A TOTAL. We had way too many cards tuned in with incorrect or insufficient info for us to tally and sort through everything efficiently. Incorrect cards will be discarded, end of story.
We did not have that many kids at the kids shoot on Saturday. Maybe a half dozen or so. Those that were there had a good time and we had the opportunity to test out our new backstop which seemed to work well. Dan done a great job coming up with a nice light weight portable rigging setup for the backstop. Again, this backstop is only rated for 40 lb. traditional bows so please refrain from shooting heavy bows into just to see what happens. I tested it with a 38 lb. bow and it worked great. We had a movie night on Saturday for the kids and showed ‘Brave’. We had about a dozen kids show up so I think that went well. Thanks to Paul for running the projector for this. I think we’ll try this again at Blackhoof somehow. WE NEED VOLUNTEERS FOR THE KIDS SHOOT AT BLACKHOOF!!! Dan will not be able to make this shoot and we need people to step up and get the targets to the shoot and help run the shoot. The shoot is from 1-3 on Saturday and we need at least 3-4 folks to help run the show and keep things safe. It would be unfortunate if we weren’t able to have this for the kids. Please contact me if you are able to help.
We should have stickers and hats by Blackhoof. That has been an adventure but hopefully these new suppliers will get it right. I’ve also ordered some more youth shirts in smaller sizes and those will also be at the next shoot. Anyone interested in a particular style, size, color etc., please let me know.
I spoke with the folks at Blackhoof this past week and they said they are ready for us. They will be posting their lunch and dinner menu on our Facebook page later this month. The address for Blackhoof is 3851 Wolford Road in Jamestown, OH. ( just off old U.S. 35) Hope to see you all there.
Lee and Joy were missing at Ross but they had good reason. Congrats to you guys on your newest grandchild. Oh, and thank you Joy.
Best Regards,
Matt Fout
